Within my flyer design I used different elements of design. I used different lines and I changed the color and thickness of the lines to make them stand out. I used complementary colors like orange and blue. I also used all three of the primary colors: red, yellow, and blue. I used a lot of different shapes like stars, rectangles, circles, and polygons to make my pictures. The last element of design that I used was space. My main focal point was the talent show and then I arranged things around the word “talent show” to create good space. I used principles of designs as well. I used balance, which is the arrangement of the objects in a design according to their size. I used some repetition in my flyer as well. I constantly repeated stars since I was doing a talent show. Then I used the principle of emphasis/dominance. I used a lot of white space to draw the viewer’s attention to the word “talent show”.
I used many different skills from Adobe Illustrator to make this amazing flyer. One of the first things I used was combining shapes. I made three stars and then combined them together using “Pathfinder: add shapes.” Also, I made the magicians hat by combining a rectangle and the ellipse tool as well as the magician’s magic wand. Next, I used the skill text on a path. To make “RPHS PRESENTS:” curve, I made a circle and then used the tool text on a path to type along the path of the circle. Then I used text on a path to tell when and where the talent show was. I made a regular line and then used the tool text on a path to type along the path of the line. Then I rotated the line to a slant, so the text was slanted. Finally, I used the tool clipping mask. I found a picture of a night of stars using Google: images and then I put it on Adobe Illustrator. Then I used the Type Tool and clicked on the picture and typed “show me what you got.” Then I went to "Object: Clipping Mask: Make" and it left me with “show me what you got” with the night of stars picture within the text.
